The waterwheel was built in 1869 by Stothert and Pitt was rebuilt in 1898 by Edward White. On open days the wheel can be seen working and driving an 1883 pump-set built by Sparrows of Martock. In addition, several stationary engines are on display as well as a wide range of relevant artefacts. Also on display is the Nether Cerne waterwheel, somewhat broken, but perhaps the oldest "all iron" wheel in England.
