The Monkey Sanctuary in Cornwall has been the home to a colony of woolly monkeys since 1964. Its original aim was to provide a stable setting in which woolly monkeys, rescued from lives of isolation in zoos or as pets, could live as naturally as possible.
The Sanctuary has received worldwide recognition as the first place where this beautiful primate has survived and bred successfully in captivity. Their descendants form the colony today. The Monkey Sanctuary provides advice and support for primate rescue centres around the world. Closer to home we are working to rehabilitate captive monkeys in Britain who still desperately need a safe and socially stimulating environment.
Disabled access although the gardens may be too steep for wheelchairs. Disabled toilets are situated in the car park. Admission for wheelchair users is half price and their helpers are free.
